First Bug Ever Recorded is the debut album by Landauer. Founded in the isolation of lockdown, and separated by distance and time, this project is an invitation to (re)connect with your friends, to quit your job, and to feel like moths stuck between the relays of failing computers.
No matter how exquisitely coded, every piece of software has a breaking point. This album was created in those spaces. Arturia Pigments modulated until it maxes out your CPU. Samples of opera singers stretched and slowed down until they’re glitchy screams. Hard bow pressure that causes violins to hop down to undertones. Found field recordings of French subways in between frenetic hip hop beats, over-saturated tape hiss, cello harmonics, gamelan rhythms, etc. Sometimes it’s overwhelming, but a lot of it is in a major key so you can sing along with your friends, if you want. It’s been a few years and we’re older. It’s time to feel better. Let’s break some machines.
